the only reason it runs half decent is because, of course, a fan created an app to assign core affinity to the threads of their app. they make a multithreaded app with no affinity management whatsoever and call it "full multicore support". Oh and let's not forget their false support of multiple cores. other crap that goes unfixed, buggy netcode, memory management, multthreading, the list goes on and on. set some waypoints and watch your "advanced ai war units of the future" get confused trying to negotiate some random feature of the landscape, or even each other. engineers would still rather play bumper cars instead of manufacturing or maintaining your base. which reminds me, PATHING FFS, still broken. reworked interface? it was fan modded a long time ago, for free, which is the only reason they touched it other than to add some of their "new" pathing and beacon mechanics. The whole game behaves very differently online.Ĭlick to expand.you have got to be kidding me, whole new game from the ground up? sure they charged a whole new game price, but it was *at best* an addon with some balancing tweaks and a new sound engine, because the old sound engine was half assed and struggling with surround. SupCom is all about ONLINE play these days. Once I saw how other people could play and how much fun it actually was, then I spent the time to learn it properly. Then you will be able to see proper players having fun with the game.
Goto and watch one of the tournament replays for SupCom. Maybe this game just isnt for you though. If its too much for you, there is always C&C or COH. It didnt score so highly in reviews for nothing you know. Then there are us who having learnt it firmly believe it is the best RTS experience out there on the PC. I know a couple of people like that who just gave up. I admit it has a steep learning curve, which tends to keep the kids out of the game. It sounds to me like you are the typical 'new Supcom player' who finds the game difficult to grasp so doesnt enjoy it.

try downloading the Phantom Beta 3 Mod which is sooo addictive. especially if you want to play 4 v 4 on huge maps like Setons Clutch (and experience you will never get playing other RTS's).Īs for MODS, well there are a few popular ones of those as well.
Ive NEVER had a problem finding online games. Every time I go look to play a game there are many to choose from (custom game section of GPGnet). The community online is active and decent. Ive played the campaign for probably 4-5hrs max. Playing real people rather than AI's is a whole new world.

In fact, they are barely noticable if you have a decent PC I dont see the small delays being an issue at all when you have dozens of battles going on all over the map. When you complain about the reaction speeds of the game, think about the scale of the game engine. once again more than any other RTS by far) (of which there could be upto a 1000 in battle. it dwarfs other RTS's in the ability to manage your units. have you even played this game ? You can manipulate each unit individually or in groups, set way points, multiple queue orders, rally points, transport routes. no where near strategic.Īs for not being able to micro manage units. Games like COH and C&C are just too simple and unbalanced (let alone zoomed in at 3 inches above your units). No other game comes close if you want actual strategy and epic scale. Having played just about every RTS out there, I firmly believe SupCom Forged Alliance (new balance over the original) is at the very top of the pile.
You sir, obviously do not appreciate the finer things in life.
